About the Organization

Rocky Mountain Victim Law Center (RMvlc) is a Colorado nonprofit law firm that provides free, trauma-informed legal services to victims of crime across all 22 Colorado judicial districts. RMvlc delivers direct representation, legal information and referrals, technical assistance, training, and outreach through programs including Victim Rights Legal Services, the Legal Information Network of Colorado (LINC), and a Title IX campus-survivor legal services program. The organization’s mission is to elevate victims’ voices, champion victims’ rights, and transform systems that impact survivors.

Policy Goals

Enforcement and expansion of victims' rights and privacy protections, restitution and victim compensation, access to legal representation for crime victims, Title IX and campus sexual-assault procedures, training and capacity building for victim service providers and prosecutors, and policies affecting the civil and criminal justice response to survivors.

Funding

Primarily funded through foundation and government grants, individual donations and philanthropic fundraising, with supplemental revenue from fundraising campaigns and program-specific support.

Affiliates

Legal Information Network of Colorado (LINC), Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA), Violence Free Colorado, National Crime Victim Law Institute, collaborative partnerships with local district attorney offices and victim service providers; leadership includes Executive Director Emily Tofte Nestaval and Legal Director Kazi Houston; founders/board members include John Clune and Shari Vanino.
