About the Organization

SAGE (originally Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders) is the United States' oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults through direct services, research, education and public policy advocacy to ensure dignity, health, and inclusion as people age.

Policy Goals

Advocacy for LGBTQ+ inclusive aging policy, eldercare and long-term care equity, anti-discrimination protections in health and social services, HIV and healthcare access for older adults, funding and reauthorization of aging programs (e.g., Older Americans Act), affordable inclusive housing, caregiver supports, and cultural competency training for service providers.

Funding

Mixed funding including individual donations, foundation grants, government grants and contracts, program service revenue (notably SAGECare training and consulting), and philanthropic events.

Affiliates

SAGECare (social enterprise), National Resource Center on LGBTQ+ Aging, SAGEServes, SAGEVets, SAGE Centers (local affiliates and senior centers), notable leaders and supporters including CEO Michael Adams and former board member and advocate Edie Windsor.
