The Sexual Violence Law Center (SVLC) is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit law firm that provides free, trauma-informed, holistic legal services and strategic advocacy for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence across Washington state; its mission is to improve legal responses to sexual violence and advance survivor safety, privacy, and racial and gender equity.
Civil legal protections and access to justice for survivors (protection orders, housing, employment), immigration relief for immigrant survivors (VAWA, U and T visas, asylum), Title IX and campus sexual assault reforms, victims' rights and crime victim notification, privacy and technology-enabled coercive control protections, training for courts and service providers, and funding/policy changes to improve survivor services and systemic accountability.
Primarily foundation and government grants, individual donations, fundraising, and in-kind/pro bono legal support from partner attorneys and law firms.
