The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) is a U.S.-based trade association that represents securities firms, banks, broker-dealers and asset managers; it advocates for efficient, resilient capital markets, provides industry standards and best practices, and engages with policymakers and regulators on legal, regulatory and market-structure issues.
Securities regulation and compliance, capital formation and market structure, clearing and settlement, fixed income and derivatives market issues, investor protection and disclosure, prudential and conduct regulation, taxation affecting capital markets, fintech and market innovation, and anti-money-laundering/financial-crime controls.
Primarily funded through membership dues, event and conference fees, sponsorships and service revenues from major securities firms, banks, broker-dealers and asset managers.
Includes the SIFMA Foundation and SIFMA Asset Management Group and has a governing board and membership drawn from major Wall Street firms, global banks, broker-dealers and large asset managers.
