Snohomish County Human Services is the county government department that plans, funds and delivers social and supportive services across Snohomish County. Its mission is to help residents meet basic needs and develop their potential by providing timely, effective human services and building community. Programs include behavioral health and crisis services, substance use treatment, aging and disability supports, developmental disability services, early childhood education, veterans assistance, housing and homelessness response, energy/utility assistance, and related client supports.
Typically supports and implements policies that expand and fund behavioral health and substance use treatment, homelessness prevention and affordable housing, aging and disability services, early childhood education and family supports, veterans services, utility and emergency assistance, and coordination of state, federal, and local social safety net funding and service delivery.
Primarily funded through Snohomish County tax revenues and the county general fund, supplemented by federal and state grants and contracts (e.g., CDBG, Continuum of Care, state behavioral health and social service funds), Medicaid reimbursements, and occasional philanthropic or partner contributions.
