About the Organization

SOC Investment Group is a Washington, D.C.-based shareholder advocacy organization (formerly CtW Investment Group) that organizes union-sponsored pension capital to engage publicly traded companies on corporate governance, executive pay, labor and human-rights practices, workforce safety and environmental risk with the goal of protecting long-term retirement savings.

Policy Goals

Corporate governance reform, limits on excessive executive compensation, shareholder rights and proxy voting, disclosure of workforce health and safety and human-rights risks, environmental and climate-risk disclosure, oversight of corporate lobbying and political spending, responsible capital allocation (share buybacks/dividends)

Funding

Primarily funded and supported by unions and union-sponsored pension funds affiliated with the Strategic Organizing Center, supplemented by grants and contributions from labor-aligned organizations
