The Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) is a non-profit conservation advocacy organization focused on protecting and permanently safeguarding wilderness-quality public lands and natural resources in southern Utah through legislative advocacy, administrative engagement, public education, and litigation when necessary.
Advocates for federal wilderness designation and stronger public‑land protections, opposes roadbuilding, large-scale energy and mineral development, and actions that degrade culturally or ecologically sensitive landscapes; pursues litigation and administrative rulemaking to enforce environmental laws and influence land‑management policy.
Primarily funded by individual members and small donors, supplemented by foundation grants and philanthropic contributions.
Frequently partners with national and local conservation organizations such as Sierra Club, The Wilderness Society, and other regional public‑lands and outdoor recreation groups to advance shared public‑land and wilderness protection goals.
