The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is the coordinating body for higher education in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Established by the Virginia General Assembly in 1956, SCHEV provides strategic planning, policy guidance, data analysis, and budget recommendations for Virginia’s public colleges and universities. Its mission is to advocate for and promote the development and operation of an educationally and economically sound, vigorous, progressive, and coordinated system of higher education in the state.
