The Tax Foundation is an independent, nonpartisan research organization that analyzes tax policy and public finance to inform policymakers, journalists, and the public. Its mission is to improve lives through smarter tax policy by promoting economic growth, transparency, simplicity, and efficient revenue systems at the federal, state, and local levels.
Research and advocacy on federal, state, and local tax policy, tax reform and simplification, corporate and individual taxation, international tax issues, tax incidence and distribution, revenue estimation, budget and fiscal policy, and tax-related regulatory design.
Primarily funded by donations from individuals, philanthropic foundations, and corporate supporters, along with revenue from publications and events.
Works regularly with state policy groups, business associations, Congressional and state legislative staff, academic economists, and other free-market and fiscal policy research organizations; board and advisory members have included prominent economists and former tax officials.
