About the Organization

The Center for Black Health & Equity is a national nonprofit public health organization dedicated to advancing health justice for people of African descent. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, the organization works to eliminate health disparities by building community capacity, supporting culturally competent public health programs, and advocating for equity-centered policies that address the social and economic determinants of health.

Policy Goals

The organization advocates for equity-centered public health policies focused on tobacco control and menthol bans, HIV/AIDS prevention and stigma reduction, cancer and chronic disease prevention, food and nutrition access, mental health, women’s health, and broader efforts to address institutional racism and social determinants of health.
