The Fertilizer Institute (TFI) is the national trade association representing U.S. and North American fertilizer manufacturers, distributors, retailers and service providers. TFI advocates for the responsible production and use of fertilizers, promotes safety and security, supports science-based nutrient management and environmental stewardship, and works to ensure reliable inputs for agricultural productivity and food security.
Advocacy on agricultural policy, fertilizer regulation, nutrient management and water quality, air emissions and environmental compliance, transportation and infrastructure for bulk commodities, trade and tariff policy, energy and feedstock policy affecting production (e.g., natural gas), safety and security standards, research and innovation funding, and supply-chain resilience.
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from fertilizer manufacturers, distributors, retailers and allied companies, supplemented by conference and sponsorship revenue and targeted program grants.
Major member companies and industry partners such as CF Industries, Nutrien, Mosaic, Koch Fertilizer and Yara; state and regional fertilizer associations; and collaborative relationships with agricultural organizations and commodity groups (for example farm bureaus and grower associations).
