About the Organization

The Sentencing Project is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit research and advocacy organization that produces data, policy analysis, and public education aimed at reducing mass incarceration and addressing racial disparities in the U.S. criminal justice system. It advocates for evidence-based sentencing reform, alternatives to incarceration, juvenile justice improvements, and reduced collateral consequences for people with criminal records.

Policy Goals

Sentencing and sentencing-length reform, decarceration and alternatives to incarceration, juvenile justice reform, reducing racial and ethnic disparities in the criminal legal system, reentry and collateral consequences, restoration of voting rights and other civic reintegration policies.
