The United States Senate is one of the two chambers of the United States Congress, the legislative branch of the federal government. Composed of 100 senators, two from each state, the Senate is responsible for drafting and passing federal laws, confirming presidential appointments, ratifying treaties, and conducting impeachment trials.
The Senate considers and debates legislation on federal budget and appropriations, national defense, taxation, healthcare, immigration, infrastructure, foreign policy, judicial appointments, and a broad range of domestic and international policy issues.
