The United Faculty of Washington State (UFWS) is a statewide coalition of faculty unions that represents faculty at Washington’s regional public universities. UFWS advocates for quality public higher education, academic freedom, shared governance, and collective bargaining rights to protect faculty working conditions and student learning.
Advocacy for increased and sustained public higher education funding, collective bargaining and contract protections, faculty compensation and benefits, academic freedom and tenure safeguards, opposition to privatization and tuition increases, support for equitable hiring and workplace protections for contingent faculty
Primarily funded by member dues and local union assessments, supplemented by occasional donations and grants
