About the Organization

The Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs (UDVMA) is a state government agency that serves Utah veterans, active duty service members, National Guard members and their families by connecting them to federal and state benefits, assisting with VA claims, providing outreach and casework, managing state veterans cemeteries and long‑term care programs, and advising the governor and legislature on military and veterans matters.

Policy Goals

State veterans benefits and claims assistance; veterans housing and homelessness prevention; veteran education, employment and licensure reciprocity; veterans health and mental health/suicide prevention; state veterans cemeteries and burial benefits; support and policy for the Utah National Guard and military installations; coordination of federal grant and VA program implementation.

Primarily annual appropriations from the Utah state budget supplemented by federal grants and reimbursements (including U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs funding), program fees, and occasional donations or grants.
