A membership-based, statewide consumer advocacy organization that represents and educates Virginia consumers on marketplace and regulatory issues, works to protect ratepayers and purchasers, and advocates for price transparency, fair utility rates, and consumer protections.
Consumer protection and education; utility and energy ratepayer advocacy; public utility commission and regulatory oversight; price transparency (including prescription drug pricing); insurance and banking consumer rights; fair marketplace practices and public interest litigation or regulatory intervention.
Primarily supported by membership dues and individual donations, supplemented intermittently by grants and contributions from foundations and partner organizations.
Partners and allies have included national and state consumer groups such as the Consumer Federation of America and like-minded public interest organizations and consumer law advocates.
