The Washington Bankers Association (WBA) is a non-profit trade association that represents commercial banks doing business in Washington state. Founded in 1889, WBA delivers advocacy before state and federal policymakers, regulatory guidance, professional education and training, and member services intended to protect and advance the business of banking across community, regional, and national institutions operating in Washington.
WBA typically pursues state and federal policies affecting banking and financial services, including regulatory and compliance issues, deposit and lending rules, community banking and small-business lending support, payments and fintech policy, tax and economic development matters that affect banks, workforce training and professional development, and financial literacy initiatives.
Primarily funded by membership dues from banks, event and convention fees, revenue from training and professional development programs, sponsorships and endorsed-vendor partnerships.
Member banks across Washington (community and regional institutions such as Washington Federal, Banner Bank, Heritage Bank and many others), national banking organizations such as the American Bankers Association, and industry service providers that partner on training and member programs.
