The Washington Bus is a statewide, youth-led movement-building organization that increases political and civic engagement among young Washingtonians and develops the next generation of leaders and organizers through civic education, voter mobilization, leadership programs, and issue organizing.
Typically pursues state-level policies and campaigns that expand youth civic participation and voting access, advance racial and economic equity, support education and workforce opportunities for young people, promote housing affordability and criminal justice reform, and align with progressive labor and social-justice priorities affecting historically disenfranchised communities.
Primarily funded through foundation grants and individual donations, supplemented by grassroots fundraising and program service revenue and occasional institutional grants.
Sister entities include The Washington Bus Education Fund (501(c)(3)) and The Washington Bus (501(c)(4)); frequently partners and coalitions include progressive advocacy groups, labor unions, youth and immigrant-rights organizations (e.g., Fuse Washington, SEIU, OneAmerica, Planned Parenthood affiliates and other state-level progressive coalitions).
Non-profit organizations: The Washington Bus Education Fund (501(c)(3) public charity) and The Washington Bus (501(c)(4) social welfare organization)
