About the Organization

The Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is the state-level professional association representing pediatricians and pediatric providers in Washington state; it promotes child and adolescent health through clinical education, public-health programs, policy advocacy, and community partnerships to improve the physical, mental and developmental well‑being of children and families.

Policy Goals

Advocacy and policy work focused on pediatric and public-health issues including immunization and vaccine policy, Medicaid/CHIP and access to pediatric care, early childhood development, mental-health services for children, school health and safety, injury and violence prevention, environmental health (lead, asthma), nutrition and obesity prevention, and health equity for underserved populations.

Funding

Primarily funded through member dues and fees, grants and contracts, donations and sponsorships, and revenue from continuing medical education, conferences, and program services; may receive support and coordination from the national AAP.

American Academy of Pediatrics (national), Washington State Department of Health, Seattle Children’s Hospital and other pediatric hospitals, Washington State Medical Association, child health and advocacy nonprofits in Washington
