The Washington Education Association (WEA) is a statewide labor union representing public school employees in Washington State, including teachers, education support professionals, and other certificated staff. Its mission is to advocate for high-quality public education, professional excellence, and improved working and learning conditions for students and educators.
WEA typically pursues policies related to K-12 public education funding, educator compensation and benefits, class size limits, collective bargaining rights, school safety, equity in education, pension protections, and opposition to measures that reduce public education funding or expand privatization initiatives.
The organization is primarily funded through membership dues paid by public school employees.
