About the Organization

The Washington State Commission on African American Affairs (CAAA) is a state government agency established to improve the well-being of African Americans across Washington by advising the Governor, Legislature, and state agencies on issues affecting the African American community. The Commission advocates for equity in education, economic development, health, criminal justice, and civil rights.

Policy Goals

Civil rights protections, racial equity initiatives, criminal justice reform, educational equity, economic opportunity, health disparities reduction, housing access, and policies addressing systemic racism in state government.
