The World Shipping Council is the global trade association and policy voice for international liner shipping, representing container and roll-on/roll-off carriers that move a large share of world seaborne trade. Its mission is to promote a sustainable, safe, secure, and efficient shipping industry.
Maritime and shipping policy, ocean and environmental regulation, decarbonization and ship recycling, safety at sea, cargo security, biodiversity protection, supply chain resilience, and regional shipping regulations.
Primarily funded by member company dues and industry membership support.
Member companies include A.P. Møller-Maersk, COSCO Shipping, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, MSC, ONE, Yang Ming, ZIM, and other major liner shipping carriers; board representation includes senior executives from member companies.
