About the Organization

AARP (formerly the American Association of Retired Persons) is a U.S.-based nonprofit membership organization that advocates for the interests of people age 50 and older. It provides policy advocacy, research, information, member services and benefits aimed at improving health care and prescription access, retirement security, caregiving supports, financial protection and overall quality of life for older Americans.

Policy Goals

Social Security and Medicare policy; prescription drug pricing and access; retirement security and pensions; caregiving and long-term services and supports; health care affordability and access; consumer protection and fraud prevention for older adults; employment and age-discrimination policies; housing, transportation and community-based services for seniors.
