America Walks is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing safe, equitable, accessible, and enjoyable places to walk and move. Founded in 1997, it equips individuals, local organizations, and communities with advocacy training, technical assistance, and strategic support to promote walkable infrastructure and public policies at the federal, state, and local levels.
Transportation and infrastructure policy, pedestrian and traffic safety, active transportation funding, highway reform, mobility justice, public health, environmental sustainability, and equitable community development.
Primarily funded through individual donations, membership contributions, foundation grants, and charitable gifts.
Communities Over Highways coalition, Every Body Walk! Collaborative, local and state walking advocacy organizations, and national mobility and smart growth partners.
