The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) is a professional association representing certified nurse-midwives and certified midwives in the United States. Its mission is to promote the health and well-being of women and newborns by advancing the practice of midwifery, advocating for evidence-based maternity and reproductive healthcare, and supporting education and professional standards for midwives.
ACNM advocates for policies that expand access to midwifery care, improve maternal and infant health outcomes, support reproductive and sexual health services, promote workforce development and scope-of-practice authority for midwives, and advance equitable and evidence-based maternity care at the federal and state levels.
Primarily funded through membership dues, conference and educational program fees, publications, grants, and contributions.
Affiliated with the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME), the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), and collaborates with national healthcare and maternal health organizations.
