About the Organization

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) is a nonprofit trade association representing public and private sector organizations involved in public transportation. Its mission is to strengthen and improve public transportation by advocating for federal investment, advancing industry standards, and promoting mobility solutions that enhance communities and the economy.

Policy Goals

Federal transportation funding, infrastructure investment, public transit operations and safety standards, workforce development, sustainable transportation, and mobility innovation policy

Funding

Membership dues from public transit agencies, private transportation companies, and industry suppliers, as well as conference and event revenue

Affiliates

Member public transit agencies such as New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Los Angeles Metro, major transportation manufacturers and engineering firms, and partnerships with federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Transportation
