The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), often working through coalitions of safety groups, is a national nonprofit organization representing the highway safety offices of U.S. states and territories. Its mission is to provide leadership and advocacy to reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities through the development and implementation of evidence-based highway safety policies and programs.
Traffic safety, impaired driving prevention, distracted driving laws, pedestrian and bicyclist safety, teen driver safety, occupant protection laws, speed management, and broader highway safety funding and enforcement policies.
Primarily funded through membership dues from state highway safety offices, federal grants and cooperative agreements including support from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and private sector sponsorships.
