The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is an international nonprofit organization comprised of local, state, provincial, territorial, and federal commercial motor vehicle safety officials and industry representatives. Its mission is to improve commercial motor vehicle safety and enforcement across North America through uniform inspections, training, education, and enforcement initiatives.
CVSA typically pursues legislative and regulatory policies related to commercial motor vehicle safety standards, uniform inspection procedures, highway safety enforcement, driver and carrier compliance requirements, hazardous materials transportation safety, and cross-border transportation regulations.
CVSA is primarily funded through membership dues, government grants and cooperative agreements, training and event fees, and sponsorships from industry partners.
CVSA works closely with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Transport Canada, Mexico’s Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes, state and provincial enforcement agencies, and industry stakeholders in the trucking and motor carrier sectors.
