The Florida Rural Health Association (FRHA) is a statewide nonprofit membership organization founded in 1992 and incorporated in Florida to advocate for accessible, affordable health care for rural Floridians. FRHA convenes rural hospitals, clinics, public health professionals, community organizations and local governments, serves as an information and research clearinghouse, provides training and technical assistance, and advances policy and funding to improve health outcomes in rural communities.
Advocacy and policy work focused on rural health access and equity, rural hospital and clinic sustainability, workforce development and training, telehealth and broadband for health care delivery, Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement and payment reform affecting rural providers, public health and behavioral health services in rural areas, health literacy and community-based prevention programs.
Primarily supported by membership dues and fees, program and training revenue, grants and contracts from federal/state agencies and foundations, sponsorships and donations.
Member organizations across Florida including rural hospitals and health centers, Area Health Education Centers (e.g., Suwannee River AHEC), university partners (e.g., University of Florida program partnerships), health plan partners (e.g., UnitedHealthcare Community Plan collaborations), and regional rural health networks such as local Rural Health Partnerships and WellFlorida Council.
