The Heritage Foundation is a conservative, Washington, D.C.–based public policy research institute (think tank) that develops and promotes conservative policy proposals emphasizing limited government, free enterprise, individual liberty, traditional values, and a strong national defense.
Economic policy (tax reduction, deregulation, free-market reform), regulatory and administrative reform, judicial philosophy (originalism and conservative judicial appointments), national security and defense, immigration enforcement, energy policy favoring fossil fuels and energy independence, health-care reform emphasizing market-based alternatives, and education policy including school choice.
Primarily funded by individual donors, conservative foundations and grants, corporate contributions, and an institutional endowment.
