About the Organization

IBEW Local 48 is the Portland, Oregon local of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers representing electricians and electrical workers in construction, utilities, industrial and maintenance sectors; the local negotiates collective bargaining agreements, operates apprenticeship and continuing-training programs, enforces workplace safety standards, and advocates for labor-friendly public policy affecting the electrical and construction trades.

Policy Goals

Collective bargaining and wages/benefits, apprenticeship and workforce training, workplace safety and OSHA enforcement, prevailing wage and project labor agreements, infrastructure and public-works procurement policies, and energy/clean-energy policies that prioritize union labor

Funding

Primarily funded by member dues and initiation fees, revenue from apprenticeship and training programs and joint labor-management funds, with political activity financed by voluntary member contributions and affiliated PACs
