The Los Alamos Study Group is an Albuquerque-based advocacy organization focused on nuclear disarmament, opposing nuclear weapons expansion, and promoting environmental, economic, and social resilience. It was founded in 1989 and has long worked on issues related to Los Alamos National Laboratory and U.S. nuclear weapons policy.
Nuclear disarmament, nuclear weapons reduction and nonproliferation, opposition to plutonium pit production and other nuclear weapons infrastructure, environmental protection, peace and anti-war policy, and related public education and organizing.
Primarily tax-deductible private donations from supporters, with some small foundation grants.
Founded by Greg Mello; associated with staff and board members including Trish Williams-Mello. It has also worked with researchers and advocates such as Robert Alvarez and with the Princeton Program on Science and Global Security on some projects.
