A professional law enforcement association representing major county sheriffs’ offices across the United States. Its mission is to advocate on public safety issues, support communication and training among sheriffs’ offices, and promote research and best practices in law enforcement and detention operations.
Public safety, law enforcement operations, detention and jail policy, homeland security, border security, immigration enforcement, criminal justice, emergency preparedness, and federal funding for local law enforcement.
Primarily membership dues, program/service revenue, sponsorships, and other association-related income; it also receives some investment income.
Member sheriffs’ offices nationwide; leadership includes Sheriff Bob Gualtieri (President) and Sheriff Bill Brown (President in prior leadership listings). It is associated with the broader sheriffs’ policy community and has worked alongside the National Sheriffs’ Association on some issues.
