About the Organization

The Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) is a statewide legal resource and advocacy organization that supports civil legal aid programs to advance economic justice for low-income individuals and families in Michigan. It provides training, litigation support, policy advocacy, and coordination to strengthen access to justice and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Policy Goals

Access to justice, consumer protection, housing stability, public benefits, health care access, family law, and policies that reduce poverty and protect low-income communities

Funding

Primarily funded through grants and contracts from the Legal Services Corporation, government agencies, foundations, and other philanthropic sources

Affiliates

Legal Services Corporation, State Bar of Michigan, Michigan Legal Help, and regional legal aid programs across Michigan
