The Michigan Retailers Association (MRA) is a statewide trade association that represents and advocates for retail businesses in Michigan, providing government relations, compliance guidance, training, and member services to help retailers operate, grow, and navigate regulatory requirements.
State-level business and regulatory issues affecting retailers, including taxation and fiscal policy, licensing and regulatory compliance (alcohol, tobacco/vaping, cannabis where applicable), workforce and labor issues, employment law and benefits, public safety and loss prevention, payment systems and commerce policy, zoning and permitting, and policies affecting supply chains and consumer-facing operations.
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees, sponsorships and event revenue (conferences, training), and income from services provided to members, including publications and compliance resources.
Works in partnership with national and regional retail and business organizations (e.g., the National Retail Federation), state and local chambers of commerce, and allied industry associations and service providers.
