About the Organization

The National Council of Farmer Cooperatives (NCFC) is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association that represents farmer-owned agricultural cooperatives across the United States. Its mission is to promote and defend the cooperative business model, advocate federal public policies that support rural communities and agriculture, and provide policy analysis, education, and advocacy services on issues affecting cooperative members and their customers.

Policy Goals

Agricultural and farm policy, cooperative law and tax policy, antitrust and competition issues affecting co-ops, rural development and infrastructure, farm credit and insurance, trade policy, conservation and natural resources, energy and biofuels policy, and regulatory issues impacting farmer-owned cooperatives.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from member cooperatives, supplemented by event and sponsorship revenue and program service income.

Affiliates

Member farmer cooperatives and cooperative networks including large national co-ops (for example CHS Inc. and Land O'Lakes), regional and state agricultural cooperatives, and allied cooperative organizations and sector trade groups.
