The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) is the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and recreational shooting industry in the United States. Its stated mission is to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports, advance industry growth, and provide safety, education and training programs for consumers and retailers.
Advocates for policies favorable to firearms manufacturers, distributors and retailers; supports industry-friendly regulation of commerce in firearms and ammunition, legal protections for lawful gun owners and sellers, state and federal preemption measures, voluntary safety and safe-storage initiatives, and workforce/economic development for the shooting-sports sector
Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from firearms and ammunition manufacturers, distributors, retailers and allied businesses, plus revenues from trade shows, sponsorships and program partnerships
Membership and partnerships with major firearms manufacturers and retailers, state firearms trade associations, hunting and shooting-sports organizations, and law-enforcement partners involved in industry safety programs (examples of industry members include well-known manufacturers and national retailers)
