About the Organization

New England Fishermen’s Stewardship Association (NEFSA) is a New England-based fishing advocacy organization representing wild harvesters and commercial fishermen. It says its mission is to educate the public on seafood resource management, conservation, economic well-being, ecosystem sustainability, and U.S. food security, with a strong focus on protecting fishing livelihoods and heritage.

Policy Goals

Fisheries management, sustainable seafood policy, conservation, ocean resource stewardship, opposition to burdensome fishing regulations, and opposition to offshore wind and other ocean industrialization that it says harms fishing communities.

Funding

Primarily membership support, donations, and business sponsorships; public filings and reporting also indicate it has received support from outside advocacy donors.

Affiliates

Key leaders include Aaron Williams, Dustin Delano, John Drouin, and Shelley Wigglesworth. It works with New England commercial fishermen and business members.
