About the Organization

The New York Building Congress (NYBC) is a broad-based membership association founded in 1921 that represents and unites stakeholders across New York City’s building and construction industry, including contractors, labor unions, architects, engineers, developers, and public agencies. Its mission is to promote the growth and success of the built environment by advancing sound public policy, encouraging public-private partnerships, and fostering collaboration, economic development, job creation, and industry best practices.

Policy Goals

NYBC advocates for policies related to infrastructure investment, capital planning and budgeting, housing production and land use reform, transportation and transit funding, resiliency and sustainability, workforce development, and modernization of environmental review and procurement processes.

Funding

Primarily funded through membership dues, event sponsorships, and industry partnerships from construction firms, real estate developers, labor organizations, and related businesses.

Affiliates

Represents a coalition of construction industry stakeholders including major contractors, labor unions, real estate developers, design professionals, and public sector partners; led by President and CEO Carlo A. Scissura.
