This bill would modify the Clean Air Act by narrowing the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) formal review over federal actions. The EPA would still review proposed federal legislation but would no longer need to formally assess new federal construction projects, major agency actions, or regulations for compliance with clean air standards. As a result, many federal activities—such as infrastructure projects and regulatory initiatives—would be exempt from EPA review for environmental and air quality impacts. This shifts much of the responsibility for these reviews away from the EPA and could streamline the approval process for such projects and regulations.
